In the course of the lessons about typical characteristics of Britishness and later on of being Nigerian, the students of the Advanced Course English Q1 were asked to present and explain the identity of their or their ancestors’ home country. In one of the lessons we analysed an example of British identity which was presented as a collection of stereotypes and characteristics within the Union Jack. Based on this example, the students created their “identity flags”. Due to the fact that we are a multicultural course, we have a rich variety of very interesting results.
